Our story
NZ Upholstery started as a working upholstery shop. We spent years sourcing fabrics, hides and foam for our own jobs — and learning, sometimes the hard way, which suppliers’ products actually performed.
[PLACEHOLDER — replace with your real story. Suggested structure: when and where you started · what you were doing before selling materials · the moment you decided to open the range to other upholsterers and the public · what you’re proud of today.]
Today we supply upholsterers, furniture makers, interior designers, marine and automotive trimmers, and thousands of home DIYers across New Zealand. The range has grown, but the rule hasn’t changed: if we wouldn’t put it on a customer’s sofa, we won’t sell it on this website.
What we stand for
- Honest specs. Every fabric lists its real composition, width, Martindale rating and fire compliance. No mystery “heavy-duty” labels.
- Cut with care. Fabric is cut square and rolled, not folded. Foam is cut on a proper saw, not a bread knife.
- Real advice. Email us a photo of your project and someone who has actually upholstered one will answer.
- NZ first. Stock held here, shipped from here, priced in NZD, with fabrics tested to AS/NZS standards.
